Three Weeks on the Job!

Had a great trip to Grise Fiord; it was definitely a very positive and productive visit.

The flight over was amazing; I was able to see the sun rise just as we took off from Resolute and it slowly disappeared as we approached Grise Fiord. For the majority of the flight, there wasn't a cloud in the sky, consequently, was able to get a good view of the landscape. The scenery that surrounds Grise Fiord is rocky and dramatic, it really is a phenomenal place. As for the plane itself, it was a Twin Otter and I had no one to keep me company both going and coming back from Grise Fiord - so had my own private plane! I was really fortunate to have had the chance to get out onto the sea ice a couple kilometers out; thanks Amon, you give a whole new meaning to "off roading"!!

It was great to see Naoko and Taiga on my return. Regardless of the cost, I have decided that Naoko and Taiga need to make the journey up to Grise Fiord with me at least once.

I won't be able to get too comfortable, I am off to Pangnirtung next week for training. So very very busy! I hope all is well with everyone out there. It so strange to look at the temperatures down south with all those spring like numbers; to be honest, it has been pretty good the weather so far. I have yet to truly feel cold.

  1. Awesome pictures Michael .... just finished watching the Opening Olympic Ceremony - they were fantastic. We have such a beautiful country, and you are truly blessed to experience a part of it that most of us will never see. Embrace it!! Hope work will not be too stressful. Hugs to you all!
